“For those who watched this amazing man grow up, no one should be surprised by his skill set to connect with others. In this uncertain world it’s always good to know someone who knows someone. He has been in practice with five years of experience. Sometimes people may not know who to go to or feel like that haven’t met the right therapist they feel comfortable with. This here is your guy!”

"I’ve known Shelby since middle school. Great human and great therapist. Definitely recommend him to folks looking for a new therapist!"

“Shelby made such a huge impact on my girls as a camp counselor years ago when we were going through our foster/adoptive journey. I love the reminder of all the people God has put in place over the years to meet our needs . . . I know he has probably encountered hundreds of children since he met us, but I know my girls would love the chance to reconnect just to tell him how much he meant.”

What can I expect in the first session?
In my first session, I enjoy getting to know people and understanding their story and what they hope to gain. There’s no “plan” in session one beyond setting the plans together.
What is your policy on confidentiality?
In terms of confidentiality, there are exceptions (intent to harm self or others, legal situations such as having to communicate with a judge). In terms of minor clients, I strive to maintain their autonomy. What parents should know is that I help their children tell them what’s important.
How long does each session last and how often will we meet?
Sessions last 50 minutes. Weekly is ideal, especially at the beginning of treatment but I also understand life is busy. Every other week does the job just fine. You and I set goals and evaluate our progress every 6 sessions. I give you, as the client, autonomy to decide where you believe you are in your therapeutic process.
What is your cancellation policy?
Again, life gets busy! I totally get it. If you ever need to cancel, I need it to have 24 hours notice and we can easily reschedule. Inside that window, I charge full fee to insure commitment on both sides.
How much does each session cost? Do you take insurance?
My rate is $145 per session. I do not take insurance as it can confine the therapeutic process unnecessarily. I do however offer a Superbill that allows the client to be reimbursed from their insurance companies.
